Why did you choose to come to AMSC?
I was attracted to the flexibility and the specialized program of study that comes with the AMSC program. I wasn't
sure what I wanted to study when I came out of undergrad, but I knew that in AMSC I would be able to find whatever
suited me best. Also, the people in the program are very warm and friendly.

What are your research interests and why?
I am interested in mathematical models of immunology and cancer. Mathematically, I'm interested in numerical
differential equations. On the application side, I like being on the cutting edge of cancer/immunology research, and
I
like the interactive collaborations between math, physics, and biology. In the end, I hope that my research might help
to develop new techniques in immunotherapy.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy working out and relaxing with friends. I usually end up going to the movies or exploring the
restaurants in DC.

What are your favorite parts of the greater Washington DC area?
I really like all the museums and festivals that are on the National Mall. Those are fun
things to visit during the day on the weekends. I think my favorite place to hang out would definitely be the U street
area. There are tons of cool restaurants and lounges, and it's the area where the young, chill, professional crowd
hangs out.

What advice would you give to incoming students?
I would advise them to think of graduate school like a job. Come in at 8,leave at 5 (or whatever hours best suit
you). I give this advice for two reasons: First, it's good to hang around the department. You will get to know your
classmates and professors and will become a part of the department. Second, it will help you to separate work time
from relaxation time. If you keep a regular study schedule, then work won't pile up on you, and you will feel less
guilty about the breaks that you take.
