Student Adisory Plan

The courses a student takes should be designed to prepare him or her to pursue research or work in area of mathematics or in a chosen area of application. A study advisory plan (SAP) is a document where students propose the written exams and/or coursework they plan to take in order meet the degree requirements. The Study Advisory Plan is a "plan" which can be changed as the student progresses in study. SAPs are always subject to the approval of the AMSC Graduate Committee.

Study Adisory Committee

Once an application area has been selected by the student, the Director will appoint a Study Advisory Committee. This committee consists of at least two faculty members for M.S. students and of three or more for Ph.D. students. At least one member of the committee represents the application area, and one member represents the mathematics area of specialization.
