UMD Smith's Dr. Bruce L. Golden was awarded the Robert Herman Lifetime Achievement Award in Transportation Science on Oct. 21st, 2019. This achievement marks the third lifetime achievement award within three years for Golden, who serves as the France-Merrick Chair in Management Science in Smith’s department of Decision, Operations and Information Technologies. Given by the INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics Society, this award recognizes an individual who throughout his or her professional career has made fundamental and sustained contributions to transportation science and logistics, and has influenced the field through writing, teaching, service, and mentoring younger professionals.
