From the ICERM 2021 Spring Newsletter:

We are pleased to announce that Misha Kilmer is joining ICERM as a Deputy Director, effective July 1. She is the William Walker Professor of Mathematics at Tufts University with expertise in numerical linear and multilinear algebra. She specializes in the development of fast algorithms for solving large-scale, forward and inverse problems, as well as on theoretical and computational aspects of tensor decomposition.

Misha has received a number of awards and recognitions, most recently being named a Data Intensive Studies Center (DISC) Faculty Fellow at Tufts University. She is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) as well as Section Editor for Research Spotlights of SIAM's flagship journal SIAM Review. She has served on the editorial boards of three other SIAM journals and will soon begin a term as an editor for La Matematica, the new flagship journal of the Association for Women in Mathematics. She is a current member of ICERM's Scientific Advisory Board.

Misha brings significant leadership experience to ICERM. She served six years as Chair of the Department of Mathematics and is co-chairing both the SIAM Conference on Applied Linear Algebra 2021 and the SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering 2021.

Misha succeeds Sigal Gottlieb (UMass Dartmouth), who will complete four years of service as Deputy Director at the end of June. We are very grateful to Sigal who shepherded no less than five semester programs, ten topical workshops, and three Hot Topic Workshops during her tenure. She was also instrumental in helping organizers adapt their programs to virtual platforms when the pandemic hit last March. We owe a great deal to her broad vision, connections to the research community, and patient leadership.
